How to Go Paleo in 3 Easy Steps

With SO much information out there about the Paleo diet sometimes information overload can make people second guess themselves and when all is said and done, not even give paleo a chance. That is why we created this guide. We wanted to make it quick and easy to give this “diet” (although we hate using that term) a chance.

STEP 1: THROW IT ALL AWAY

Throw everything that’s not Paleo away. That means you should grab the trash can and toss: refined sugars, all grains (including rice and corn), starchy tubers, legumes (beans), some meats (anything processed with nitrites and additives like hot dogs), “vegetable” oils (corn, peanut, soybean, cottonseed, and iodized salt (Himalayan is fine).

STEP 2: STOCK UP ON EVERYTHING PALEO

Go to the grocery store and stock up on everything Paleo. It’s extremely important that everything in your kitchen stays paleo friendly. This will force you to eat foods you are supposed to and help your plan stick. Stock up on:

  • Organic, naturally-raised, grass-fed meats like: beef, bison, venison, wild game, pork, chicken, and duck.
  • Seafood like: salmon, tuna, cod, perch, tilapia, mahi, scallops, and shrimp.
  • Eggs
  • Vegetables like: spinach, greens, broccoli, cabbage, brussell sprouts, onions, garlic, fresh herbs, mushrooms, tomatoes, bell peppers, tomatoes, and sweet potatoes.
  • Fruits and berries like: watermelon, avocado, cantaloupe, mango, peaches, oranges, apples, bananas, blueberries, and plums.
  • Fats like: coconut oil, ghee, and coconut milk. Nuts. Seeds.

STEP 3: EAT LIKE YOU MEAN IT

The third and final step to our Organisource Guide to Going Paleo in 3 Easy Steps: Eat like you mean it.

You’ve overhauled your kitchen and pantry and gone on a Paleo shopping spree. Now it’s time to commit. When we say eat like you mean it we mean figure out a regimen that works for you and don’t do anything that will put yourself in a position to quit or fail. Eat when you’re hungry, Make meals that include a portion (or two) of meat, a portion of veggies/fruits, and fat. Don’t eat when you’re not hungry. Consider fasting and don’t be lazy. As you get used to the new regimen and once your body has adjusted to the paleo foods you’ll be ingesting a little exercise will go a long way. When it comes to eating one of the best things about the paleo diet is that it’s one of the most tasty diets I can remember ever trying. Protein Packed Paleo Chocolate Donuts

The Paleo Gods recently shared this recipe for Paleo Donuts with us and we decided to give it a little Organisource twist. Behold one of our new favorite recipes of all time. Protein Packed Paleo Chocolate Donuts with our famous Bone Broth Protein Powder!

INGREDIENTS

Serves 12

Dry Ingredients

Wet Ingredients

  • 3 Tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • ¼ teaspoon almond extract
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 Tablespoons coconut oil, melted
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • 2 eggs, at room temperature, whites and yolks separated

Glaze Ingredients

  • ½ cup very dark chocolate (our favorite: Pure Chocolate)
  • ¼ cup unsweetened chocolate
  • 2 Tablespoons coconut oil

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Generously grease your 6-mold donut pan with coconut oil.
  2. Combine the dry ingredients in a medium bowl. In another medium bowl combine all of the wet ingredients except egg whites.
  3. Mix the wet with dry and set aside.Beat the egg whites until firm peaks form. Gently fold the egg whites into the batter.
  4. Equally distribute the batter between the 6 donut molds. Smooth out the tops of each donut. Bake for 12-15 minutes until lightly golden.
  5. Allow the donuts to cool, remove from pan and then chill in the fridge for half an hour.
  6. For the Glaze: Fill a medium skillet with a few inches of water and place over medium-low heat. Place the glaze ingredients in a small saucepan and put the saucepan inside the skillet. Gently mix the ingredients until fully melted.
  7. Pour the melted chocolate into a shallow bowl. Dip each chilled donut in the chocolate, then immediately chill for 30 minutes until the glaze hardens.

You might think we’re lying when we say this Brownie Batter Collagen Protein Shake is healthy but then you’ll taste it and learn to just take our word for it. This is no ordinary brownie batter.  It’s packed with some awesome stuff like our collagen peptides to keep your skin and gut on point and healthy antioxidants from the avocado, cacao and banana.

INGREDIENTS

Serves 12

  • 1 banana, peeled (frozen if you want a thick ice-cream like shake)
  • 1/2 ripe avocado
  • 2 scoops Organisource Collagen Peptides
  • 3 tablespoons dark cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon raw maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup full-fat canned coconut milk
  • 3/4 cup water
  • Pinch of salt

INSTRUCTIONS
